Mobilink to launch ‘SpeedNet Stick’: EDGE based USB Dongle from May 1st
Mobilink will be launching its EDGE based USB Dongle: SpeedNet Stick from May 1, 2013. The device will be available for Rs. 2,500 (excluding Tax) from Mobilink Franchises in all major cities of the country. For the first two months, Mobilink is also offering a data bundle of 2 GB for a period of 60 days (2 months). Customers will be able to connect the SpeedNet Stick with their laptops (or desktops) and use internet after filling in basic information required.
There will be daily, weekly and monthly bundle packages for use from the SpeedNet Stick and in daily package subscribers will get 150 MB for a time duration of 26 hours for Rs. 15 (excluding Tax). The base rate for internet without any package will be Rs. 5 per MB.
Though Mobilink is promising a connection speed of 200 kbps on EDGE, the drawback is that it is the maximum speed. The speed provided to the users is normally quite below the promised rate while using Mobile internet. Moreover EDGE is not fully deployed all over the country and the services would shift over to GPRS for a slower connection.
